In case you wonder why I took it upon myself to write this family story, I think it is because I was the one in the family with the time to do it. Judging from classes offered by Elderhostel on recording family histories, it seems to be a good idea to get some of these things down in writing. Jyme had shown me a booklet one of her family members had put together about the McKerlies, and from that I got the idea of adding the pictures as I'm not that good with descriptions.
As I progressed in the typing, I would get input from Helen, Jyme and Lumie, so I trust that factually what I put down is true, at least to the best of our knowledge. I'm sorry we didn't pay better attention to tales Pop told; at the time I am sure we were bored with hearing about "the old country," and consequently we don't even remember a lot of the folks’ history.
When we were little, we called our parents "Maminka" and "Tatínek." In later years, they became "Ma" and "Pa." Because it sounds better to say "Mom" and "Pop," that's what they will be called throughout this history. Of course, they eventually became "Grandma" and "Grandpa."
I trust the younger generation will find this worth keeping.
